Senators want to scrap new U.S. - Philippines new defense pact

#Philippines @senmiriam Rene Saguisag and Wigberto Tanada filed a 63-page petition alleging that the government had failed to uphold and protect the country's sovereignty and national interests.

"The executive has circumvented the correct and brave stand by the Philippine Senate in 1991 in refusing to renew the bases treaty by illegally entering into the EDCA," the petitioners said in their submission.

Saguisag and Tanada were among a dozen senators who voted to terminate the military bases agreement signed in 1947 with the United States, a year after the Philippines won its independence from its former colonial masters. - Yahoo PH!

Jinggoy Estrada Surrenders to Erap

One of the alleged masterminds of the PDAF scam Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada surrendered to his father, former president and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada (Did I read this correctly? Surrendered to whom? LMFAO).

Jinggoy Estrada then turned himself in before the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame on Monday afternoon, shortly after his trip to San Juan.

With his family and parents Mayor Estrada and Loi Ejercito,‎ Senator Estrada arrived at Camp Crame in a white coaster to undergo booking procedures.

Jinggoy Estrada's son lavish lifestyle is being scrutinized by the netizens on twitter and instagram. So how much do senators really make in the Philippines? How costly it is to run as a senator - 100million pesos or 500 million pesos? Can they really buy a private plane? Seriously? WTF!
