When Floyd Mayweather, Jr. was a barely 130-pound, six-round fighter just a year removed from a disappointing finish at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Oscar De La Hoya was already a three-time world champion and a pay-per-view engine driving sales like no fighter his size since Sugar Ray Leonard. He would appear five times in 1997, all of them on HBO or pay-per-view, and hold two world titles in the process. By the end of that year, De La Hoya would be the welterweight champion of the world and the undisputed king of boxing’s box office, which is the real title every fighter seeks.

[...] Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather fight is a complete crap! I know Floyd Mayweather is a good boxer but of what I’ve seen during the fight there’s no way he can win that fight. Floyd is a good boxer but Oscar De La Hoya is far better and stronger opponent than him and that clearly show especially if you’ve seen them fight. IMHO, it’s better if the judges declared it as a draw. Judges are sometimes stupid. [...]

I believe Oscar dela Hoya won the fight vs. Mayweather. It was pretty obvious. I felt I have wasted my time watching when the result was announced. I think the two judges were corrupted!!!
dela Hoya won not Mayweather!

Both of you are nuts. Mayweather won. And if you see it any other way, your head must have been up your ass during the fight because both of them are good but it’s obvious dela hoya lost hard as hell. don’t be sore losers.
