Alexa Image Search Beta

Alexa Image SearchAlexa launched their own image search it is currently in beta stage. Alexa is best known for operating a website that provides information on the web traffic to other websites. If you will use it for the first time please don’t expect too much because at this point they only indexed 10% of the images in the Alexa crawl but they are expecting to have all of them indexed in the next few months. I found two options Filtered and Unfiltered, i’ve tried it but i’m not really sure what was that for, maybe for photo censorship, i didn’t see any changes at all. Alexa Image Search Beta comes with the following:

* Camera Image Search – this lets you search for photos based on the camera and settings.
* Robots.txt Search – this search lets you see which Web sites block which crawlers.
* Zip File Search – this search lets you look for files buried in Zip files.
* HCard Search – this search lets you look for HCard contact info on the web.

  1. Filtered results exclude most “adult” images using a couple of techniques. Non-filtered results turn off this filter. You can see it in the search URL as “adult=no” or “adult=yes”.
