Yesterday, I attended the Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology at the University of the Philippines (U.P.) Diliman. In my guess there are about 5,000 more or less attended this Youth Congress in Information Technology. This was organized by the UP Information Technology Training Center (UP ITTC), the Virtual Center for Technology Innovation in Information Technology (VCTI-IT), and the UP System I.T. Foundation (UPSITF).

Topics were:

Based on my experience, I was really not impressed with what I had paid for. The registration was 500.00 Php, you’ll get a kit “which is a cheap bag and a 2 pcs. of paper inside and a pen”. The 2 pcs of paper was an ACER brochure for their new computer packages and I forgot the other one which is more nonsense than the other Well anyway its just fine, I’m glad students from other provinces got a remembrance at least.

The EMCEE’s. Yes, they were really good. I think they were from “KLOWNZ”. They like cracking out humorous jokes and it’s really a fun. Congressman Escudero was there also. Occationally He cracked some jokes,but you can’t disregard some of His political essays Politics will always be a part everytime you put this politicians in front of a stage with a microphone.

Anyway let’s get back to the program. I only attended the Seminar which I’m only interested. These were Tech- Based Entrepreneurship, 3D Modeling, Rendering & Animation, POD Casting / VOD Casting, Bioinformatics, 3G Phone Technology , Philippine National IT Standard Examination
PhilNits formerly JITSE and Mobile Computing & Embedded Systems.

The Tech Based Entrepreneurship was actually about Mymplus VoIP. Guess what? the founder and CEO of the company was there, He introduced VoIP and the company itself. Some Pinoy entrepreneur was behind the company’s success. MyMPLUS was based in Silicon Valley, California USA.

Well i think most of the participants was really not interested with it, and they didn’t even told us how to be able to get an income with this VoIP thing, they just said visit the office and the first come first serve Opportunity Meeting.

I’ll just summarize the other topics like 3D Modeling, Rendering & Animation, PODcasting/VODcasting, Bioinformatics, 3G Phone Technology, Philippine National IT Standard Examination (PhilNits), Gaming were really.

To make this short, Bioinformatics was about computed rice research i don’t really have time listening to it, I just closed my eyes and rest for a while. 80% of the participants I guess were just talking to each other that time, taking pictures and some just get out of their chairs.

My most awaited topics like 3d Modeling and Pod/Videocasting was I guess deleted out of the blue. Supposed to be it will be discussed at this time 09:45 to 10:30 Voice over IP (VOIP) 11:45 to 12:30 3D Modeling, Rendering & Animation. During that time Congressman Escudero was on the stage talking about some IT stuff and politics. Before him was about the Call Center in the Philippines which he quoted “Not part of the I.T. conference” well this is not the exact phrase actually i’m not a journalist to memorized it all. That’s why some participants were reacting about it coz he was talking about President GMA anyway so it’s also out of the topic if you’ll notice.

At about 3 PM I’m totally wasted, I’m so tired even my friend, I just came from the province. Woke up at 4 AM travel for 3 hours to manila, my friend was tired almost taking a quick nap every time we had the time to sit he was 24 hours awake he just came from an all night gaming activity, so there he was walking like a fraking zombie. I’ll end my blog here, to the organizers of this event, thanks for the certificate anyways.

UP Information Technology Training Center (UP ITTC) is accepting students and i think they are looking for 20 or 40 scholars i’m not so sure. I forgot i was half awake when they discussed it :lol::lol::lol:
